09-01-2018, 02:31 PM On figs4fun Herman2 noted years ago that Malta Black is an excellent fig for in-ground growing in the mid-atlantic and that has been confirmed in my yard this year. My ~ 30 in-ground varieties all froze to the ground and only two so far have produced fruit - Pastiliere and now Malta Black.
